Top Tips for Crafting Compelling Website Copy from a Brand Designer

As a brand designer, I've worked with so many different clients on their website design, and let me tell you, the copywriting is always a rough spot.

Most people have a rough idea on what they want to say, but they not always know how to write a copy that is compelling and effective. In this video, I'm going to show you how to make this whole process a lot smoother.

First, your website copy is basically the voice of your brand.

It's how you communicate your values, your unique selling points, and your overall message. That's why it's super important to have a clear and cohesive understanding of what you want to say before we start working on your website design. Plus, your website design also is influenced by your copy.

What you say determines the hierarchy of your content and overall structure of your website. Trust me, by spending a little bit more time in your copywriting and making sure that you have everything right saves you a ton of time and headaches.

There are three main practices that I encourage my clients to follow:

  • First, keep it clear and concise. So you want to break the Internet noise by making sure that you are communicating exactly the message that you want to communicate, nothing else.

  • Second, write like you talk. Avoid any business speak or any language that does not align with your personality.

  • And third, keep it simple. Make sure that for each page there's one call to action that is very clear and specific to what you want your audience to do next.

Are you having a hard time nailing down your website copy too?

I recommend checking out this resource from a copywriter I adore, Courtney from Big Picture. She's a pro helping businesses like yours find their voice and communicate their message and their value more effectively. The resource that she created for you will save you a lot of time.

Plus, I worked personally with Courtney before and I can vouch for her expertise.

So give it a try and see if it makes a difference in writing your website copy. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me.
